Sr Payroll Manager

PRIMARY

PURPOSE:

To manage payroll operations and related activities; to manage the corporate payroll staff; to develop and control functions necessary to accomplish payroll processing objectives; and to coordinate payroll tax preparation, filing and payments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages corporate payroll unit activities ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing; manages and trains internal payroll staff; and assigns workloads.
  • Prepares tax gross-up for relocations, special pays, and related documentation for IRS.
  • Maintains payroll tax files and correspondence with state and local tax jurisdictions; initiates and coordinates tax research with ADP and tax agencies; and audits state and local tax withholding requirements in related system(s).
  • Ensures that more complex internal payroll actions are performed accurately.
  • Researches and resolves report or data discrepancies identified by Colleague Resources (CR) and Finance staff.
  • Educates CR staff on payroll related issues.
  • Adheres to the goal of delivering and maintaining the highest quality of customer services to internal clients.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.
  • Interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance discussions.
  • Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education & Licensing:
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university strongly preferred.
  • Experience:

    Eight (8) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to include five (5) years payroll experience and one (1) year multiple state tax reporting. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with ADP Enterprise payroll processing system, ADP WGPS service and/or ADP eTime processing system preferred.
