An “on-call” position which means employees hired will not be assigned a set schedule or have a guarantee of weekly hours. On-call employees will be assigned hours to work each week based on the workload and the staffing needs.
General Summary
The Environmental Services Technician at Blanch field Army Community Hospital (BACH), Fort Campbell, KY, plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment for all personnel and visitors. This position is responsible for implementing and overseeing environmental sanitation protocols that prevent the spread of infectious diseases and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. The technician will conduct routine cleaning, disinfection, and waste management activities across various facilities, contributing to the overall operational readiness of the installation.
Additionally, the role involves monitoring environmental conditions, reporting hazards, and collaborating with other departments to promote sustainable practices. Ultimately, this position ensures that the environment supports the well‑being and efficiency of the community it serves.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols.
- Physical capability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in environmental services or a related field.
- Certification in infection control or environmental safety.
- Familiarity with hazardous waste handling and disposal procedures.
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations related to environmental services.
- Ability to operate specialized cleaning equipment.
- Cleans and disinfects patient rooms, beds, gurneys, examination tables, restrooms, offices, and other common areas within the hospital environment to established standards.
- Performs terminal cleaning of patient rooms and special procedure rooms in accordance with standard procedures.
- Collects and disposes regular trash, RMW (Regulated Medical Waste), and recycle materials.
- Collect and removes soiled linen into appropriate bin.
- Replenishes, hand soap, hand sanitizer, other supplies as needed.
- Dust mops floors with microfiber using standard operating procedures.
- Wet mops floors with disinfectant using microfiber material following standard operating procedure.
- Dusts all horizontal and vertical surfaces, furniture, wash walls, clean and polish fixtures, air vents, handrails, blinds, windows and sills and other items as required.
- Handles various types of cleaning chemicals in compliance with established guidelines and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May be trained and asked to perform floor care work to include buffing, stripping and re‑finishing, scrubbing baseboards, earthquake joints, thresholds.
