Summary of PositionProvides nursing care to clients in crisis in the Walk-In Center and Crisis Stabilization Unit. Provides medication monitoring, adjusts medications within limits prescribed by an authorized prescriber, and offers information, education, and support to individuals in crisis to promote wellness and recovery.
Night shift: 7p-7a. Time type:
Full time.
- Perform nursing assessments on individuals being admitted to the Walk-In Center/Crisis Stabilization Unit.
- Monitor vitals, perform lab testing, and evaluate medical appropriateness for admission and continued stay; obtain and enter orders into EMR from authorised prescriber.
- Administer and give medications to patients, monitor dosage, side effects, and document patient reactions.
- Provide medication training to guests or guests’ family/guardian to administer medication, monitor proper dosage levels, and watch for side effects.
- Develop and maintain the Treatment Plan of Care for guests.
- Oversee the nursing needs of guests.
- Act as liaison between guest and the authorised prescriber, pharmacist, family, and/or collateral support systems.
- Coordinate guest‑staff assignment of care and provide shift‑change reports.
- Observe guests on a day‑to‑day basis and provide documentation in the EMR.
- Provide group or individual education as needed.
- Participate and/or lead staff meetings and training as scheduled or necessary.
- Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.
- Perform basic electronic medical record computer skills.
- Detail oriented with effective problem‑solving skills.
- Possess leadership skills.
- Knowledge base in psychotropic medications.
- Skill in crisis intervention.
- Ability to de‑escalate patient/clients using evidence‑based de‑escalation training (e.g., Therapeutic Options) to include safety holds as necessary.
Education Level
Minimum of an Associate’s Nursing Degree from an accredited school or a waiver‑approved LPN by the State of Tennessee. RN preferred.
Years of Experience
One year of behavioral health nursing experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure
Licensure required; valid driver’s license required.

Pay Range: $29.63 – $41.54.
