Job Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in Emergency Medicine collaborates closely with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team to manage inpatient acute care patients. The APP provides specialized, evidence‑based care, adheres to established clinical pathways, ensures accurate documentation, and participates in ongoing professional development to maintain high standards of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document patient health history and perform or direct a system‑focused or symptom‑specific physical examination.
  • Order, perform, interpret, and collect diagnostic data as indicated.
  • Form differential diagnoses and treat acute and chronic conditions.
  • Prescribe pharmacologic, non‑pharmacologic, or surgical interventions to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Utilize evidence‑based practice protocols in planning and implementing care.
  • Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations; provide specialty‑specific consultation services within scope of practice.
  • Facilitate patient transitions between health‑care settings, including admission, transfer, and discharge.
Eligible Certifications
  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner – Tennessee (LIC‑Nurse Practitioner or LIC‑FNP)
  • Licensed Physician Assistant – Tennessee (LIC‑PA)
  • Registered Nurse – Tennessee (LIC‑RN)
Minimum Experience & Education
  • At least 1 year of emergency medicine provider experience (prior ICU or critical‑care experience considered).
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Physician Assistant Studies, or related field.
  • Clinical competency validated through documentation and assessment.
