Role Summary

The Senior Quality Specialist will complete routine activities to monitor and coordinate the project quality program. This position is responsible for reviewing documents, attending meetings, conducting walk-through inspections, and investigating non-compliant conditions to support the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Responsibilities – Core
  • Learns and actively participates in all aspects of the company’s safety and quality plans, demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment.
  • Participates in the project-specific quality plan, water intrusion plan, and quality status report.
  • Ensures comprehensive documentation of quality assurance processes, test results, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborates with suppliers to establish and maintain quality standards for incoming materials.
  • Gains knowledge of design documents to identify potential quality problems and assist in constructability review reports.
  • Develops comprehension of compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Utilizes a basic understanding of project contract documents.
  • Attends pre-planning, pre-installation, and progress meetings.
  • Conducts regular walk-through observations to ensure compliance with contract documents and industry standards.
  • Investigates non-compliant conditions and collaborates with supervisors to determine root causes and provide recommendations.
  • Utilizes internal quality assurance systems and tools to prepare reports for field superintendents, project managers, and subcontractors.
  • Assists with the documentation of quality-related information.
  • May conduct basic constructability reviews under direct supervision.
  • May help schedule and witness third-party compliance inspections and performance verification testing.
  • May assist in coordinating other JE Dunn teams including VDC, Quality Group, Safety, Offsite prefabrication, and Self-Perform.
Key Responsibilities – Additional Core
  • Ensures Project Specific Quality Plans and Water Intrusion Plans are established, accountable, and updated regularly.
  • Ensures the Project Quality Status Report is completed before the Monthly Project Review Meeting.
  • Participates in creating National Initiatives such as quality assurance manual updates and quality broadcasts.
  • Ensures all major quality issues are listed and up-to-date on the Project Quality Status Report.
  • Conducts detailed constructability reviews and participates in page-turn review meetings.
  • Performs intermediate quality assurance testing, including water, moisture content, material compatibility, and adhesion tests.
  • Provides basic training onsite or at the office on construction quality-related topics.
  • May be required to review and certify submittals for accuracy.
  • Monitors specific and systemic work practices, identifies, documents, and recommends solutions to construction quality issues.
  • Communicates project quality status and issues at project review meetings.
  • Identifies non-compliant conditions using advanced quality recognition skills.
  • Provides mentoring to less experienced co-workers in advanced quality-related topics.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office.
  • Intermediate formal presentation skills.
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications, building codes, and related technical data.
  • Knowledge of material and field testing for QA processes.
  • Knowledge of construction assemblies for a variety of systems.
  • Proficiency in basic JE Dunn construction and quality software tools.
  • Knowledge of construction trades and scopes of work.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, or related field (preferred).
  • Equivalent relevant experience considered in lieu of the above degree.
Experience
  • 5+ years construction quality-related experience (required).
Working Environment
  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet business needs.
  • May require periods of overnight travel.
  • Normal office environment, but may be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
  • Frequent activity: standing, walking, sitting, viewing computer screen.
  • Occasional activity: bending, reaching above shoulder.
