GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Gas Measurement Technician IThis is the first of two levels in the Gas Measurement Technician series. Incumbents perform skilled work in the testing, repair, and operations of the Gas Distribution system. Responsibilities may include inspecting, installing, and repairing gas meters and regulators; responding to customer complaints; creating and/or completing various work orders utilizing Enquesta and/or Servicelink software; checking odorant levels; maintaining a supply of tools and equipment;
programming meter reading devices testing and site maintenance; enforcing safety rules and federal regulations; maintaining records of work performed and equipment tested.
Gas Measurement Technician II
This is the second of two levels in the Gas Measurement Technician series. Incumbents perform skilled work in the testing, repair, and operation of the Gas Distribution system. Responsibilities may include inspecting, installing, testing, and repairing gas meters and regulators; responding to customer complaints; creating and/or completing various work orders utilizing Enquesta and/or Servicelink software; checking odorant levels; programming meter reading devices testing and site maintenance;
enforcing safety rules and federal regulations; and maintaining records of work performed and equipment tested.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions - Gas Measurement Technician IInstall, adjust, test, and repair natural gas residential regulators and meters which may include inspecting, replacing, and removing equipment and materials; operating systems as required; and performing related duties utilizing specialized technology.
Receives and responds to work orders of operational issues and deals with the public to handle customer concerns and complaints.
Tests new and retired meters to collect data for accuracy and when determined, may calibrate, assemble, and paint to reintroduce into the gas distribution system. Testing regulators with a manometer to ensure proper operating pressures and building meter setups for future installations.
Prepares, reviews, and maintains a variety of operational records and reports.
Maintains inventory of parts and equipment in area of responsibility.
Performs other related work as required.

Responsible for the completion of the department's annual gas meter change-out program.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Gas Measurement Technician I
Education and Experience
High school graduate or GED equivalent.
One (1) year of utility maintenance and construction experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the job's essential duties.
- Possession of a valid Class D Driver's License.
- Position requires various Natural Gas Operator Qualifications deemed pertinent to the position.
Gas Measurement Technician II
Education and Experience
High school graduate or GED equivalent.
Two (2) years of experience as a Gas Measurement Technician I.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the job's essential duties.
Licensing and Certifications Requirements
Possession of a valid Class D driver's license.
Position requires various Natural Gas Operator Qualifications deemed pertinent to the position.
