GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB Gas Measurement Technician I
This is the first of two levels in the Gas Measurement Technician series. Incumbents perform skilled work in the testing, repair, and operations of the Gas Distribution system. Responsibilities may include inspecting, installing, and repairing gas meters and regulators; responding to customer complaints; creating and/or completing various work orders utilizing Enquesta and/or Servicelink software; checking odorant levels; maintaining a supply of tools and equipment;
programming meter reading devices testing and site maintenance; enforcing safety rules and federal regulations; maintaining records of work performed and equipment tested.
This is the second of two levels in the Gas Measurement Technician series. Incumbents perform skilled work in the testing, repair, and operation of the Gas Distribution system. Education and Experience
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of utility maintenance and construction experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the job's essential duties.
- Possession of a valid Class D Driver's License.
- Position requires various Natural Gas Operator Qualifications deemed pertinent to the position.
Education and Experience
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Gas Measurement Technician I.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the job's essential duties.
- Possession of a valid Class D driver's license.
- Position requires various Natural Gas Operator Qualifications deemed pertinent to the position.

- Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Natural gas and other various safety principles and practices.
- City geography.
- Record keeping principles.
- Computers and related software applications.
