Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Flux-Core Welder (FCAW) to support the fabrication and assembly of structural components for a new crane. This position will work in a welding and fabrication shop environment, joining heavy-gauge steel components, ensuring structural integrity, and contributing to the safe and timely construction of the crane.

• Perform flux-core (FCAW) welding on heavy steel components used in crane construction.
• Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols.
• Fit, align, clamp, and tack-weld parts into proper position before final welding.
• Execute multi-pass welds on thick structural steel following welding procedures and quality standards.
• Operate fabrication equipment such as cutting torches, grinders, and overhead cranes/hoists.
• Inspect welds for accuracy, defects, and compliance with project specifications.
• Ensure proper weld preparation, including cleaning, beveling, and material handling.
• Work closely with supervisors, fabricators, and quality control personnel to ensure precision and safety.
• Follow all shop safety protocols, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

• 2+ years of flux-core (FCAW) welding experience, preferably in heavy steel or structural fabrication.
• Ability to pass a flux-core welding test (various positions).
• Experience welding large assemblies or heavy-equipment components preferred.
• Strong knowledge of weld symbols, blueprints, and fabrication drawings.
• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and power tools.
• Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in various positions.
