Position: Septic Driver with Tanker Endorsement

Summary Of Position

Septic Truck Operator includes a range of responsibilities that are essential for the safe and efficient operation of septic tank cleaning services.

Essential Job Functions
  • Driving:
    Operate a Class B commercial vehicle to transport septic waste according to company policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Pumping:
    Set up hoses to pump waste into a container on the back of the truck, ensuring a safe and hygienic process.
  • Customer Service:
    Interact with customers, answer questions, and provide information about septic system maintenance.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations while following safety protocols.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Manage septic tank systems and handle related pumping equipment.
  • Physical Fitness:
    Lift heavy items and perform physical tasks such as digging out septic tank covers or valves.
  • Driving

    Skills:

    Possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL with a clean driving record.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Communicate clearly with customers and team members.

Septic Truck Operators play a crucial role in maintaining public health and sanitation by ensuring that septic tanks are emptied and disposed of properly. The job requires a combination of technical skills, physical stamina, and a commitment to safety and environmental standards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation-sponsored training courses as assigned.
  • Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro USA.
  • Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Must have a Class A or B CDL with tanker endorsement valid for the state in which the position works. Requires a clean driving record meeting Waste Pro driving guidelines.
  • At least 1 year of previous experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL within the past 7 (seven) years.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines and practices; understanding of Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.
  • Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
  • See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
  • Exhibit normal range of body motion.
  • Drive a straight truck with tank observing legal and defensive driving practices.
  • Manipulate heavy equipment control levers.
  • Follow a designated collection route or work schedule.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Maintain written records and service responses.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination required.
  • Must be able to speak and read English well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers, dispatch and supervisors, understand highway and traffic signals, and be able to make legible entries on paperwork.

  • Physically able to push or pull independently (unassisted) 50 pounds between 120-150 a day
  • Physically able to lift independently (unassisted) 50 pounds from the ground to waist height between 120-150 a day
  • Physically able to get up and down from the cab of a commercial motor vehicle between 120-150 a day
  • Physically able to bend at the waist and knees between 120-150 a day
  • Physically able to work 8 to 12 hours in extreme weather conditions? (heat, cold, rain and snow)
Work Environment

Drives truck on pre-established route, manual transmission, exposure to vibration, gets in and out of the truck multiple times per day. Empties portable restrooms using pump truck. Exposure to human waste. Works in a variety of environment conditions, including wide temperature and weather variations including heat, cold, snow, rain, wind; noise and vibrations, fumes, odors and dust.
