The Team Lead has general responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all operational activities assigned to them daily. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Operations Lead oversees the associates dedicated to the warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product in their area in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. Associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality and comply with all corporate and site‑specific policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Training Responsibilities
- Mentor and train new and existing associates in distribution activities to achieve customer demands.
- Train associates on Standard Operating Procedures for shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control.
- Assist with forklift operation and certification for new and existing associates.
- Shipping/Receiving Responsibilities
- Oversee & coordinate unloading inbound shipments, stacking, picking, and staging outbound shipments for productivity and accuracy.
- Verify paperwork with drivers and ensure proper counting of products.
- Load orders into appropriate doors and trailers efficiently and accurately.
- Process all functions per Standard Operating Procedures.
- Investigate discrepancies in shipping and receiving processes.
- Customer Service
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in all communications.
- Communicate with customers by phone, email, or in person as needed.
- Prepare activity reports accurately for site management.
- Quality Control Responsibilities
- Use appropriate documentation to verify correct receipt, shipment, and picking of products.
- Report damages or discrepancies; perform packing, shrink‑wrapping, and labeling.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures for all QC functions.
- Report inconsistencies to the Operations Supervisor or Manager.
- Participate in quality meetings.
- Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance
- Apply ISO standards and safety protocols relevant to the position.
- Promote a safe work environment and maintain a clean warehouse.
- Follow all safety rules, corporate and site‑specific policies, and OSHA/MSDS standards.
- Participate in safety meetings.
- Labor Management
- Direct warehouse work team to meet objectives.
- Assist associates with productivity sheets and records of hours.
- Help keep staff levels productive.
- Assist in establishing work schedules and ensuring proper job assignment.
- Responsibility and Authority
- Participate in department meetings.
- Initiate and recommend solutions for non‑conformities in product, process, and quality.
- Alert the Quality Department to non‑conformities immediately.
- Equipment Operation
- Use equipment including sit‑down, stand‑up, reach trucks, scrubbers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, Aisle Masters, and pallet jacks.
- Maintain equipment and report any problems.
- Perform daily forklift or equipment maintenance.
- Operate equipment safely following prescribed methods.
- Maintain active forklift certification.

- Assist with building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
- Other Duties
- May perform clerical tasks such as answering telephones, scheduling, and record keeping.
- Be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Work overtime based on business needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience in logistics, distribution, or a similar environment.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment.
- Capability to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse (mild to moderate).
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.

- English (reading, writing, verbal)

- Basic to intermediate ability to verify quantities, count inventory, and perform related duties.
