Part Time (Overnight Shift). Shift: Thursday–Saturday 11:00PM–9:00AM.

Position Overview

St. John’s Community Services (SJCS) is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as adults and children experiencing hunger and homelessness. We seek Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide personalized support in the community, helping clients develop skills, maintain independence, and access community resources.

Responsibilities

Provide appropriate supervision and training to facilitate social wellbeing, health, and safety in a least restrictive environment.

Administer medication to clients following state‑required certifications and medication administration procedures.

Assist clients with public transportation or transportation arrangements to access community resources, and plan and implement daily activities that promote social inclusion.

Document supports provided, including progress toward skill acquisition, choices, health matters, achievements, and challenges, in accordance with SJCS procedures.

Attend and actively participate in mandated events, workshops, training, investigations, and meetings.

Ensure responsible use of personal and agency resources (e.g., vehicles, property, finances).

Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
One or more years of related experience working with persons with disabilities; community‑based experience preferred.
Meet SJCS and funding jurisdiction requirements for criminal background/records checks.
Valid health certificate to meet current funding jurisdiction requirements.
Valid state‑issued driver’s license with a good driving record (preferred).

Ability to acquire and apply St. John’s Community Services policies and procedures.

Representative of St. John’s Community Services to the public.

Effective communication and coordination with staff and individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Knowledge of acceptable meal assistance and safety practices and procedures.

Skilled in using relevant computer systems, hardware, software, and office equipment.

All Employees Must

Obtain a valid health certificate to meet funding authority requirements.
Maintain a valid state‑issued driver’s license with a current driving record in good standing.
Pass required criminal background and record checks.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

May need to lift up to 30 pounds at times.

Work environment involves risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions.

Safely operating a motor vehicle; lifting, transferring, and positioning clients; exposure to aggressive behavior; use of office equipment; and/or avoidance of trips and falls.
