Financial Operations Senior Analyst, Strategic Finance

The PositionThe Financial Operations Senior Analyst supports strategic planning, operational analysis, and continuous improvement across our full portfolio of 220+ animal hospitals. This role evaluates P&L performance and helps aggregate local hospital operational excellence plans. You will work closely with many internal teams, including procurement, clinical operations, field operations, and our national network of hospitals. This role reports directly to the Director of Strategic Finance & Business Operations.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, enjoys solving complex business problems, and translates financial and operational analyses into practical recommendations that help leaders make informed decisions while continuously looking for new ways to measure and improve the business.
- Help define what metrics to track, how they are measured, and how data is tracked, stored, and reported
- Build working partnerships with internal teams to understand their objectives, key performance indicators, and reporting needs
- Analyze company and hospital-level P&L and support EBITDA improvement across locations
- Extract business insights to guide continuous improvement plans and drive efficiency, effectiveness, and better outcomes
- Monitor financial metrics and report on key performance indicators and progress toward goals
- Support planning around significant cost elements of the operating model; identify gaps and propose solutions
- Recommend ways to translate strategy into initiatives, process changes, and new approaches through clear communications to multiple levels of leadership
- Track and support local hospital operational plans to optimize targeted performance metrics
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 4+ years of P&L analysis experience; ability to read a P&L, identify challenges and opportunities, and build plans to improve performance
- Strong attention to detail, prompt and clear communication, analytical problem-solving, and a strong orientation toward execution
- Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling, complex formulas, pivot tables
- Experience with SQL, Power BI, or other data analytics tools preferred
- Experience using structured approaches to simplify complex problems and develop data-backed solutions
- Ability to generate useful insights and ideas that advance the business
- Well-rounded interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across teams
- Ability to quickly learn new domains and add value in unfamiliar areas
