Position Overview

The University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) Bridge Program seeks a dedicated High School GIS Certificate Coordinator to support the implementation, coordination, and daily operations of the High School GIS Certificate Program funded through the UMSL Geospatial Collaborative and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s (NGA) CPO-006 Workforce Development Pilot. The Coordinator will play a central role in program execution, ensuring smooth program administration, student and teacher support, data tracking, federal compliance documentation, scheduling, communication with partners, and coordination of experiential learning activities.

This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, instructors, high school partners, and the UMSL Geospatial Collaborative. This is a grant‑funded, time‑limited position and continuation is dependent upon the availability of federal funding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all administrative and operational aspects of the High School GIS Certificate Program.
  • Support student recruitment, enrollment, onboarding, and communication with participating high schools.
  • Serve as the primary administrative point of contact for students, families, instructors, and Bridge Program staff.
  • Assist with scheduling, logistics, and communication for teacher workshops, orientation, certificate sessions, and culminating events.
  • Manage student attendance, progress reports, citizenship verification documentation, and instructional compliance records.
  • Maintain the program’s data tracking system, including quarterly and annual reporting requirements under the subcontract with the UMSL Geospatial Collaborative.
  • Support experiential learning activities, including field trips, NGA engagement events, and other instructional opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the GIS instructor, Romo GIS, and the PI and Program Director of the NGA CPO-006 Workforce Development Pilot, Dr. Reda Amer, to ensure consistent curriculum delivery.
  • Prepare and distribute instructional materials, program communications, and operational documents.
  • Assist in ensuring that all program processes comply with UM System, UMSL, and federal contract requirements.
  • Contribute to program evaluation, continuous improvement efforts, and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Uphold UMSL’s values of access, excellence, and student success.
Employment Information
  • This is a grant‑funded position supported by the NGA CPO-006 Workforce Development Pilot.
  • Employment is contingent upon availability of federal funds.
  • Compensation will follow UMSL and UM System HR guidelines for professional staff.
  • This position does not include visa sponsorship and must comply with all federal contract requirements.
Sponsorship Information (Required by NGA Contract)

This position supports a project funded by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, which limits participation in the project to citizens of the United States. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for this position. No visa sponsorship is available for this role.

Compliance Requirements
  • Must successfully complete a background check consistent with UM System policies.
  • Must complete all required UMSL and NGA compliance training (cybersecurity, FERPA, ethics, youth protection, etc.).
  • Must comply with federal cost allowability rules, NGA restrictions, UM System HR policies, and program documentation requirements.
  • Must follow all guidelines for working with minors and maintaining secure student data.
Shift

28 hours/week. Weekdays, some weekends, and evenings may be required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Geography, Geospatial Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience working with youth, high school programs, or academic support initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general digital tools.
