Overview

This position will offer you the ability to directly apply your knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design. As a member of an engineering and design team, you will work on a range of industrial, power, oil and gas facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Project responsibilities include creating calculations, document designs, and specifications. Conduct structural analyses, including loading conditions such as wind, seismic, blast, and pressurization.
  • Guide junior-level engineers and designers in structural engineering design efforts and coordinate detailed design phases for all aspects of structural engineering work.
  • Work on challenging assignments that involve investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of structural engineering issues.
  • Develop integrated structural designs and perform supporting calculations for planned work.
  • Prepare technical specifications for structural materials.
  • Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation.
  • Coordinate and provide guidance to other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to ensure a complete and timely design.
  • Review existing facilities to propose upgrades and replacements, and present findings and recommendations to clients and peers.
  • Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs (travel may be required).
Qualifications
  • BSCE (MSCE preferred) from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Six or more years of experience in a project team environment designing industrial, power, oil and gas facilities, with a focus on steel structures and concrete foundations and supports for new facilities or modifications/replacements of existing facilities.
  • Experience in writing and providing support documentation for Structural Engineering calculations.
  • Knowledge of practical structural engineering applications including analysis for supports, loads, and design integrity.
  • Proficiency with Math Cad, STAAD PRO, SAP
    2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • PE License required.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship for work authorization for this position).
  • Occasional travel may be required.
Valued But Not Required Skills And Experience
  • Construction and start-up experience is a plus.
