Location:

Clayton, Missouri office with a hybrid work schedule—requiring in‑office work 3 days per week. The role may involve occasional travel to client and vendor offices and plant site locations for design reviews and field verification.

Responsibilities
  • Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design to projects across industrial, power, oil and gas facilities.
  • Create calculations, document designs, and develop specifications; conduct structural analyses for wind, seismic, blast, and pressurization loading conditions.
  • Guide junior‑level engineers and designers, coordinating detailed design phases for all aspects of structural engineering work.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve a wide variety of structural engineering issues.
  • Develop integrated structural designs and perform supporting calculations for planned work.
  • Prepare technical specifications for structural materials.
  • Conduct independent reviews of work performed by others, including calculations and drawing preparation.
  • Coordinate and provide guidance to other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to ensure a complete and timely design.
  • Review existing facilities to propose upgrades and replacements, presenting findings and recommendations to clients and peers.
Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering (MS preferred) from an ABET‑approved program.
  • Six or more years of experience as a member of a project team designing industrial, power, oil and gas facilities, focusing on analysis of steel structures and concrete foundations and supports for new or modified facilities.
  • PE license required; the ability to earn a PE license is required.
  • Experience writing and supporting documentation for structural engineering calculations.
  • Technical knowledge of practical application of structural engineering, including load analysis and design integrity.
  • Proficiency with Math Cad, STAAD Pro, SAP
    2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • May require occasional travel.

  • Construction and start‑up experience.

  • Lead others from issue to solution by setting expectations for using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost‑effective designs.
  • Direct automation and process‑improvement work, including how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation while ensuring results are verified.
  • Oversee engineers who program or script Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel to automate engineering tasks, reviewing automated outputs.
  • Value additional learning—minor, certificate, or experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields—to assist with oversight of automation and agentic AI‑enabled engineering workflows.

Compensation Range

$84,762 – $129,498
