Position: Senior Transmission Line Engineer 2 - Grid

Work Arrangement

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement: three days a week in the office and two days remote.

Responsibilities
  • Design transmission lines in the 69 kV to 500 kV range.
  • Responsible for cost analyses, development of design criteria, routing, and siting of transmission lines.
  • Conduct conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction studies.
  • Work with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
  • Direct a small project team.
Additional Opportunities
  • Work with experienced engineers and mentor less experienced staff.
  • Work with a diverse client base and interact with clients and other project teams.
  • Occasional travel for site visits and client meetings.
  • Develop proposals and cost estimates for new work.
Qualifications
  • Degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
  • Proficiency with PLS‑CADD software to review transmission line models.
  • 7+ years of experience in project‑team roles observing schedules and budget constraints on diverse transmission assignments (design, cost estimate development, schedule creation, specifications, procurement, construction liaison).
  • Knowledge to verify/review right‑of‑way requirements, conductor sags/tensions, plan & profile drawings, and construction documents.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Experience in writing and providing support documentation for engineering calculations.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
Desired but Not Required
  • Current or impending PE license.
  • Experience developing engineering proposals and cost estimates.
  • Experience with scheduling.
  • Proficiency with PLS‑TOWER, SAG
    10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, Micro Station.
AI & Automation Leadership
  • Lead others in using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost‑effective designs.
  • Direct automation and process‑improvement work, overseeing how teams automate calculations, summarize documents, generate design documentation, and guide AI use.
  • Oversee engineers who program or script (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate tasks; reviewing outputs is valued but not required.
  • Additional learning in Computer Science, AI, Software Engineering, or related fields is valued.

Compensation Range

$100,019 - $152,807
