Job Description

The Usher provides direct customer-focused guest services topatrons of the facility.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

[Customer Focus] – 30% The Usher is primarily responsible for ensuring that guests and patrons of the Touhill are met with courteous and attentive service whether assisting in way finding, welcoming patrons to the facility, or wishing guests a good night. The Usher is the individual utilized in fulfilling the Touhill’smission of being a “welcoming place”.

[Event Support] – 30% Pleasantly directing patrons to amenities and seating. Handing out programs or other materials on behalf of the client topatrons. Enforcing Touhill policies regarding proper theater decorum, seating issues, and disruptive patrons while maintaining awelcoming and friendly demeanor.

[Emergency Reporting and Response] – 25% Remaining vigilant for any emergent issue (such as hazards, suspicious activity or items, or that may arise, seeking the safetyand security of patrons and guests as priority. Reporting observed issues to House Managers for resolution ifwarranted. Executing public safety procedures when necessary and directed bythe House Manager.

[Training] – 5% Completing University-mandated training as required. Completing Touhill-specific training (and/or Touhillqualification(s)) as required.

As with all positions, may perform other job-related responsibilities as needed to support departmental and campus-wideneeds.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and some work experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Communicates professionally in both verbal and writtenformats.
  • Ability to work long and unusual hours, including late atnight.
  • Willingness to work hard and take direction.
  • Experience with House Management or front-of-house operations.
  • An understanding of theatrical terminology, equipment, andusages.
  • Good communication skills and customer service experience arerecommended.
Anticipated Hiring Range

$17.50/hr
