Overview
The St. Louis County Government Office of the Prosecuting Attorney's Office is looking for their next Attorney II. The Attorney II will represent St. Louis County in legal matters by preparing cases, prosecuting and defending lawsuits.
Essential Functions- Prosecute and defend lawsuits to resolve litigation matters.
- Prepare cases for trial by reading police reports, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing evidence.
- Provide advice and counsel to assist management in making legally sound decisions.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
- Jurist Doctor degree from an American law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
- Current licensure as an attorney by the Missouri Bar Association.
- Two years of related experience.
- A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant, including education and experience, answers to supplemental questions, and references.
- The committee will admit to the interview those with the most job-related qualifications; interview constitutes the earned grade. A qualifying grade of 70 or more is required to be eligible for appointment.
- After initial interviews, an email with instructions to complete a Conviction Questionnaire will be sent; candidates have 3 days to complete it.
- The five top-ranking candidates will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority for final decision.
- All applicants offered a merit position must submit to urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening is conducted by a reputable clinical laboratory and the cost is covered by the County.
- New employees have 30 calendar days to attest to their COVID-19 vaccination status. Those not fully vaccinated must undergo weekly testing until fully vaccinated or county vaccination thresholds are met.
