Licensed Practical Nurse

A Corrections Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works at the St. Louis County Justice Services Center in Clayton, providing nursing duties under RN supervision. The primary task is dispensing medication; patient personal care assistance is generally not required.

• Prepare and refill medication carts for residents in housing units.
• Verify resident identity and record medication details on forms.
• Present medication and observe or administer it following procedures.
• Take vital signs and monitor responses to medication, reporting any unexpected reactions.
• Document reasons for not administering prescribed drugs.
• Record and restock medication inventories.
• Provide education to promote resident wellness.
• Perform additional duties as permitted for an LPN.

• Completion of a one‑year accredited Practical Nurse training program.
• Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State of Missouri.

• Full‑time LPNs may work day/evening rotating or straight evening shifts, with evenings worked eligible for a 10% shift differential.
• ACLS certification earns a $1.25 hourly addition, up to $100 per pay period.
• Typical shifts are 8 hours; all shifts include every other weekend and alternate holidays; no straight day shifts are offered.
