School Nurse, Glenridge Elementary School
The School District of Clayton is seeking a nurse to serve the students at Glenridge Elementary School during the school year. Successful candidates will have experience in a pediatric population, the knowledge to support students with special needs, and the skills necessary to work with children who have both chronic and episodic illnesses.
Position SummaryThe School Nurse helps maintain the health and safety of students and staff while complying with Missouri laws.
Responsibilities- Addresses immediate health needs of students and staff throughout the day.
- Maintains student medical records such as immunizations, critical illness, or medical diagnosis.
- Creates and communicates safety plans and individualized health plans.
- Provides communication to staff and families.
- Administers medication and performs vision and hearing screenings.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
- Assists in developing, maintaining and communicating medical Section 504 plans to support student health and educational access.
- Creates and maintains a welcoming, safe and confidential environment that supports the health and well-being of all students and staff.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required;
Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of nursing experience, preferably 3-5 years in pediatric settings such as hospital, doctor’s office, clinic, or community health agency. Experience in a school setting is preferred.
Licensure & Certification: Nursing license from the State of Missouri and CPR certification required.
Skills & Abilities:
- Computer skills.
- Knowledge of diabetes, seizures, and asthma.
- Ability to read and understand route instructions.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate standard office and classroom equipment.
- Must occasionally move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires travel to multiple work sites within the District using reliable personal transportation.
- General office conditions, moderate noise levels.
Term: eight hours per day, ten‑month position.
Schedule: 192‑day calendar.
Salary: $44,500 to $109,234 per year.

FLSA Status: Exempt – Learned Professional Exemption.
