Environmental Field Chemist

Position: Environmental Field Chemist I

* POSITION SUMMARY:

** Chemists work in the field on customer locations conducting both chemical management/packaging/disposal services for hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

** PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* + Conducting routine inspection/audit services to assess customers' compliance with hazmat storage, waste management, and occupational safety regulations.

+ Handling, classifying, segregating, labeling, and packaging hazardous and non-hazardous materials according to Federal and State regulations.

+ Training laboratory/production staff to understand proper chemical handling/storage techniques and relevant environmental laws.

+ Responding to emergency chemical spills and performing cleanup duties.

+ Preparing shipping documents and coordinating transportation of chemical products and hazardous waste materials to and from customer sites.

+ Performing consolidation of hazardous materials/waste (i.e., bulking, repackaging).

+ Providing expert knowledge on government regulations, health and safety practices, and proper disposal methods to customers.

+ Performing other job-related duties as assigned.

* PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

*
* + Experience in hazardous waste classification, lab pack segregation, and waste handling preferred

+ Working Knowledge of applicable DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations preferred

+ Must be willing and able to obtain a commercial driver's license within 90 days of employment

+ Must be willing and able to wear and safely use all levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) including air-purifying respirators

+ Pass a Pre-Employment Physical, Drug Screen and Alcohol testing

+ Pass a Pre-Employment Background Screening

+ Pass the Company's Auto Insurance Qualifiers

+ Pass the OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training
