Environmental Field Chemist

Position Summary

Chemists work in the field on customer locations conducting chemical management, packaging, and disposal services for hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

• Conduct routine inspection/audit services to assess customers’ compliance with hazmat storage, waste management, and occupational safety regulations.
• Handle, classify, segregate, label, and package hazardous and non-hazardous materials according to Federal and State regulations.
• Train laboratory/production staff on proper chemical handling/storage techniques and relevant environmental laws.
• Respond to emergency chemical spills and perform cleanup duties.
• Prepare shipping documents and coordinate transportation of chemical products and hazardous waste materials to and from customer sites.
• Perform consolidation of hazardous materials/waste (bulking, repackaging).
• Provide expert knowledge on government regulations, health and safety practices, and proper disposal methods to customers.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

• Experience in hazardous waste classification, lab pack segregation, and waste handling.
• Working knowledge of applicable DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations.
• Willing and able to obtain a commercial driver’s license within 90 days of employment.
• Willing and able to wear and safely use all levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) including air‑purifying respirators.
• Pass a pre‑employment physical, drug screen and alcohol testing.
• Pass a pre‑employment background screening.
• Pass the Company’s auto insurance qualifiers.
• Pass the OSHA HAZWOPER 40‑hour training.

• Valid driver’s license.
