Job DescriptionReports to: Principal
Supervises: May coordinate and direct the activities of teacher assistants.
Purpose: To plan, organize and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.
Duties and Responsibilities- Management of Instructional Time:
Ensure materials ready, start class quickly, maintain high level of student time‑on‑task. - Management of Student Behavior:
Enforce rules & procedures for participation, movement, transitional behaviors, monitor, respond consistently while maintaining student dignity. - Instructional Presentation:
Review previous materials, introduce objectives, present content clearly, provide examples, assign tasks, ask appropriate questions, pace appropriately, transition between lessons efficiently, summarize main points. - Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance:
Set clear standards, circulate to check performance, use oral and written assessments, ask clear questions. - Instructional Feedback:
Provide constructive feedback for in‑class and out‑of‑class work, affirm correct responses, guide incorrect or missing responses. - Facilitating Instruction:
Design plans compatible with school goals, use diagnostic data, maintain records, align objectives, utilize resources. - Interacting Within the Educational Environment:
Treat all students fairly, interact effectively with students, co‑workers, parents, and community. - Performing Non‑Instructional Duties:
Carry out assigned duties, follow laws and policies, pursue professional development, demonstrate growth. - Additional

Degree in education or in a related area qualifying for licensure by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions- Physical Requirements:
Ability to use classroom tools, lift/carry light objects, stand/walk. Light Work. - Data Conception:
Ability to compare and judge data characteristics. - Interpersonal Communication:
Ability to speak/signals, receive instructions. - Language Ability:
Read and prepare correspondence, reports, instructional materials. - Intelligence:
Apply logical thinking, interpret technical instructions, analyze variables. - Verbal Aptitude:
Deliver information, explain procedures, follow oral and written instructions. - Numerical Aptitude:
Use mathematical formulas, calculate percentages, apply statistics. - Form/Spatial Aptitude:
Inspect items for shape, length, width. - Motor Coordination:
Coordinate hands and eyes accurately with office equipment. - Manual Dexterity:
Handle office equipment and hand tools. - Color Discrimination:
Differentiate color shades. - Interpersonal Temperament:
Deal with people under stress and emergencies. - Physical Communication:
Talk and hear, use telephone.
