Systems Engineer, Automation & Mechatronics Engineer
Piper Companies is seeking a BMS Engineer to join an industry-leading pharmaceutical manufacturing organization for a one-year contract position in Clayton, NC. The BMS Engineer will support building management and facility monitoring systems within a highly regulated GMP environment, focusing on validation activities, technical documentation review, and coordination with internal teams and external vendors across large-scale facility operations.
Responsibilities of the BMS Engineer include:- Review, evaluate, and approve validation protocols, commissioning documents, and technical records related to BMS and FMS platforms.
- Support qualification and compliance efforts within regulated manufacturing environments, ensuring adherence to GMP and quality standards.
- Coordinate with vendors, project teams, and key stakeholders to support system testing, implementation activities, and issue resolution.
- Assist with user administration, controller configuration, and platform setup activities for building automation and facility monitoring systems.
- Provide project updates, track deliverables, and maintain communication across multiple functional groups to support successful project execution.
- 2+ years of experience in validation, commissioning, or technical documentation within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, GMP, GxP requirements, and the interpretation of P&IDs and operational sequence documentation.
- Experience supporting building automation systems, including controller configuration, IP addressing, networking fundamentals, and firewall awareness.
- Familiarity with major BMS technologies such as Siemens, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, or similar building automation platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Life Sciences, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Salary Range: $60-$85 per hour
