Piper Companies is seeking an IT/OT Support Technician to support a leading manufacturing organization in Clayton, North Carolina. This role will focus on supporting network connectivity, infrastructure, and BMS/FMS-related systems across a large-scale campus environment. The IT/OT Support Technician will serve as a liaison between facilities vendors, automation teams, and IT stakeholders to ensure controllers, servers, and network-connected devices are configured properly and communicating effectively.
This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional with a hands-on field service, network support, or infrastructure support background who enjoys troubleshooting connectivity issues, supporting critical systems, and working directly in the field.
Responsibilities of the IT/OT Support Technician:- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues involving firewalls, subnet masks, VLANs, IP addressing, switch ports, and controller communications.
- Support BMS/FMS environments by diagnosing and resolving infrastructure and connectivity issues.
- Perform hands-on support within IDF rooms including cable verification, punch-down troubleshooting, and connectivity validation.
- Partner with internal IT teams and third-party vendors to resolve server, network, and controller-related issues.
- Work closely with local and global project teams to support project execution and successful system deployments.
- Communicate project status, risks, and issues to business stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Support controller configuration and integration activities alongside vendor partners.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of field issues related to network-connected equipment.
- Provide support for project launches and ongoing operational activities.
- Perform additional responsibilities and accountabilities as assigned.
- 4-6 years of experience in IT support, network support, field service, or infrastructure operations.
- Experience working with IDF rooms, structured cabling, and physical network infrastructure.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and network troubleshooting methodologies.
- Experience troubleshooting firewalls, subnet masks, port configurations, and general connectivity issues.
- Exposure to Modbus or other industrial communication protocols is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide updates to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in both field and office environments.
- Basic IT certification preferred (A+, Network+, CCNA, or equivalent).
- Experience supporting manufacturing, facilities, OT, or building systems environments is preferred.
