The Staff Nurse provides US-based employees access to occupational and non-occupational medical and health services to ensure safe, efficient, and productive operations. Reporting to the Clinical Nursing Supervisor, this role acts as the site expert medical authority for on-site health services, wellness programs, emergency response, and clinical care. Key responsibilities include managing immunization programs, conducting health assessments, supporting lab operations (including venipuncture), managing workers' compensation/return-to-work cases, and administering key OSHA surveillance programs.
JobSpecifications:
- Provide nursing care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses via symptomatic treatment, medical assessment, first aid, emergency transport, medical referrals, and rehabilitation follow-up.
- Lead and manage employee immunization programs per CDC guidelines (Hepatitis B, Rabies, Tetanus, Diphtheria), conducting titers and testing as needed.
- Serve as lab lead supporting QA and R&D lab operations, including traveling to nearby sites to perform venipuncture.
- Respond to on-site medical emergencies, determining treatment needs, emergency transport, and appropriate medical referrals.
- Provide telephonic triage for injury events across US plasma center locations to determine required levels of care.
- Coordinate pre-placement physical exams, ongoing health assessments, wellness coaching, and new hire assessments/orientations.
- Administer OSHA-compliant health programs:
Hearing Conservation Program (audiometric testing), Vision Testing Program (cGMP capability assessments), and Respiratory Protection Program. - Work with the Return to Work Case Manager on case management of claims, interacting with injured workers, HR, and medical providers to manage lost-time claims to conclusion.
- Create and maintain compliant Employee Medical Files, Industrial Hygiene Monitoring Records, Workers' Compensation forms, and return-to-work documentation.
- Serve as a liaison for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and coordinate work/life balance activities.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for US-based operations.
- Conduct regular walk-through rounds of manufacturing, plasma, and support areas to maintain operational awareness and assess work restrictions with attending physicians.
- Assist in departmental expense budgeting, equipment ordering, and inventory management.
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of related experience in Occupational Health Nursing, medical assessment, emergency medical care, clinic work, or public health nursing.
- Active State Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in North Carolina.
- Knowledge of occupational health, emergency first aid, CPR, immunology, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene monitoring.
- Preferred:
Certification via the American Board for Occupational Health Nurses (COHN or COHN-S).
- Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program required.
