Caterpillar’s BCP division is hiring for Supplier Development Engineer in Clayton, NC!
Role
Summary:
Reporting to the Category Procurement Senior Manager you’ll work within a global team and be responsible for all aspects of Supplier Quality covering new product introduction (NPI) and maintaining a stable quality level in series production for Hydraulic components supplied globally in to Building Construction Products (BCP) facilities. You’ll be the driving force behind supplier quality, setting the vision and strategy within the supply base that ensures every component, from concept to production, meets the highest standards.
What You’ll Do (Job Duties)
- Responsibility for the full product lifecycle of parts from New Product Introduction through Warranty.
- Ensure components achieve the required Quality specification & Capacity level, minimizing any disruption to the Caterpillar Production Line.
- Concern investigation and resolution on complex problems demonstrating effective use of quality tools.
- Through frequent supplier visits, conduct NPI & Current production audits, developing supplier processes at supplier locations.
- Manage and control up front quality planning within the supply base through APQP activity.
- Manage and control approval of production parts and processes (PPAP) for components.
- Implement and manage part and process improvement activities.
- Development and achievement of KPIs.
- Researching the potential vendors, assessing their manufacturing environment, practices, and procedures;
Conducting supplier quality control audits to ensure compliance with organizational and federal policies and standards.
- Problem Solving:
Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. - Process Improvement:
Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintain focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services. - Quality Orientation:
Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques; ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization. - Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies:
Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance. - Supplier Management - MFG:
Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice. - Supplier Evaluations and Certification:
Knowledge of supplier evaluations and certification; ability to identify the methods, tools and documentation for evaluating, selecting and certifying vendors, suppliers and partners.
