Overview
The Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) is responsible for coordinating research studies conducted by Mercy Research. The CRN manages day‑to‑day operational tasks related to clinical trials, including volunteer recruitment, drug/device/supply inventory maintenance, interaction with physicians, nurses, office staff, patients, and clinical monitors. The CRN collects, compiles, documents, and analyzes clinical research data while adhering to local, state, and federal regulations. Additionally, the CRN assists with training and preceptor duties, increases study load and enrollment, and builds relationships with sponsors and CROs.
All duties are performed in alignment with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards.

Full time – 40 hours
- Coordinate and manage research studies, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Recruit volunteers and maintain drug/device/supply inventory.
- Interact with physicians, nurses, office staff, patients, and clinical monitors.
- Collect, compile, document, and analyze clinical research data.
- Assist in training and preceptor duties.
- Handle increased enrollment and visit load to support study growth.
- Communicate and build relationships with sponsors and CROs.
- Perform duties consistently with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards.
- Education: Nursing Diploma, Nursing Associate's degree, or Nursing Bachelor's degree.
- Licensure: Registered Nurse with a valid license in the state of practice.
- Experience: 2 years of nursing experience for a bachelor's degree, or 3 years for an associate’s degree or diploma program. Experience may be gained through prior roles, college degrees, or a combination of professional and educational experiences.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- 2 years of clinical research experience.
- Ability to perform basic patient assessments (vital signs, spirometry, ECGs, phlebotomy, blood glucose monitoring) or willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication skills for face‑to‑face encounters with healthcare professionals and the public.
- Respectful and assertive interaction with health professionals.
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including the Internet and Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency in mathematics and the metric system.
- Teamwork and independent work with high efficiency in problem identification and resolution.
