Overview

Medical Behavioral Hospital of Clear Lake, TX is adding IOP therapists to our growing clinical service team to provide outstanding care to our patients and their families in their recovery journey. The IOP Therapist will provide individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy to adults and adolescents in our physician‑directed intensive outpatient program. The therapist will assist clients using best practices of group counseling techniques.

The therapist will complete master treatment plans, daily suicide risk assessments, discharge planning and pre‑authorization/reviews of the insurance.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments to document history and identify preliminary issues for treatment focus by interviewing the patient and their family members. Communicate with physicians to report patient progress needs, concerns, and potential and actual problems.
  • Work closely with all members of the healthcare team in development of the plan of treatment, including discharge plans, based on the psychosocial assessment and accepted social work interventions.
  • Provide group and family process‑oriented therapies as well as conduct educational and other didactic group for patients and family members using various professional treatment modalities.
  • Provide social work services including short‑term individual counseling, group therapy, community resource planning, and crisis intervention.
  • Develop and coordinate an individualized discharge plan for the patient by utilizing treatment team and chart information to determine the patient’s aftercare needs.
  • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of referral resources throughout the service area.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other third party reimbursement sources.
  • Demonstrate skill of writing individualized, behavioral and measurable treatment goals based upon information on psychosocial assessment and psychiatric evaluation.
  • Conduct daily group therapy sessions. Conduct individual and/or family therapy sessions.
  • Obtain insurance benefit information, authorization for treatment and perform ongoing utilization reviews.
  • File all progress notes in the medical record within 24 hours of the date of service.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling required.
  • Independent license in Counseling (LPC) or Social Work (LCSW) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Handle with Care (HWC) certifications are required and obtained during orientation.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in mental health or healthcare required. 3 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience developing and administering treatment plans.
  • Individual and group counseling techniques.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
