Position

In this position, you will join our Manufacturing Operations Organization within our Aeronautics Systems sector as an Aircraft Structures Mechanic – Level 1 supporting our Clearfield, UT site. This role works on major assembly structures such as fuselage panels and bulkheads, and structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps, and stabilizers. We’re seeking a hands‑on professional with exceptional attention to detail, a strong commitment to quality, and outstanding interpersonal skills.

This position may be filled at varying shift times including weekdays, nights, and weekends (shift differential paid during eligible shifts).

Please note:

Only external candidates and NG employees who are not currently Aircraft Structures Mechanics at the Clearfield site will be considered under this requisition.

Essential Functions
  • Read and understand blueprints
  • Translate blueprints into fabrications of structural assemblies to include precision drilling, countersinking, and the use of calibrated tools
  • Align parts on jigs using templates and fixtures
  • Perform part‑fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming
  • Measure parts with precision tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions
  • Modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedure
  • Use daily manufacturing shop controls and systems
  • Use appropriate PPE when working on the shop floor
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods, equipment performance, and team effectiveness
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 9 months structures/composites experience in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment OR completion of approved Aircraft Fabrication or Composites course
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, working overhead or at heights, accessing small, confined spaces
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business needs. U.S. citizenship required for clearance.
  • Must successfully complete and pass the “ASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance” within a reasonable time period.
  • Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current/active U.S. Government Secret level clearance
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools
