Position Overview
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Industrial Engineer / Principal Industrial Engineer – Master Production Scheduling (MPS) to support our Master Production Scheduling team within the Industrial Engineering Operations Management group (IEOM).
This role is located on site in Clearfield, UT and requires a full on‑site presence; remote work is not permitted.
Relocation assistance may be available.
Clearance required for start: SAP clearance and Special Program Access (PAR) are required.
Travel: yes, approximately 25% of the time.
Level: either Level 2 or Level 3, depending on qualification.
Responsibilities- Prepare, develop and coordinate the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to meet all objectives.
- Ensure manufacturing schedules are horizontally and vertically integrated.
- Implement scheduling best practices including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Critical Path Analysis, Schedule Risk Assessment (SRA), Schedule Performance, Health Metrics and Analysis.
- Analyze lead times, queue times, work‑in‑process, cycle times, and throughput to meet customer demand most effectively and efficiently.
- Build scalable and sustainable models to optimize product flow, incorporating cost, schedule, and resource constraints.
- Develop optimized scheduling tools and align SAP/MRP systems with an executable plan given various capacity constraints.
- Communicate requirements planning and systems framework with IT, ERP, business analytics, and data science teams.
- Work with developers to design an interactive user interface for scheduling jobs across cost centers.
- Guide digital transformation efforts to align with sector and enterprise strategies.
- Lead and drive positive change using iterative and agile methodologies.
- Create new metrics and data visualizations to track performance.
- Provide weekly and monthly status reports.
- Track plans and schedules; create, maintain, and validate schedule data.
- Perform risk analysis and management.
- Identify and resolve critical path and network logic conflicts.
- Utilize Gantt, milestone charts, EVM and other project management techniques to gauge progress and identify performance variances.
- Level 2: Bachelor's degree with 1 year of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; or a Master’s degree with 0 years of such experience. Experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES), MRP/SAP/Oracle, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Excel (macros and pivot tables), data mining/analysis, and leading teams or projects. Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Clearance and Special Program Access (PAR).
- Level 3: Bachelor's degree with 4 years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; or a Master’s degree with 3 years of such experience; or a Ph.D. with 0 years of such experience. Same system and skill requirements as Level 2 and required clearance and access.
- Defense Industry Experience.
- Active Secret DOD clearance and Special Program Access.
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) Degree.
- Experience with EVMS.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 4 years of demonstrated experience in engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis.
- Experience improving manufacturing workflow using Lean/Six Sigma or equivalent methodologies.
- Familiarity with mixed model manufacturing operations.
- Experience with agile project management or development.
- Strong experience designing visualizations in Tableau in a professional environment.

The salary range for this position is $72,100.00 – $ for Level2 and $89,400.00 – $ for Level3, adjusted based on experience, education, and market conditions.
