Purpose and Scope:
The Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment’s storage plan.
Note:
Exclude workers whose primary duties involve shipping and receiving work (see Shipping/Receiving Clerk), order filling (see Order Filler), or operating forklifts (see Forklift Operator).
High school diploma or GED is required. Six to twelve months of job‑related experience and/or training is required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government general‑purpose vehicle. Ability to perform work in a safe manner to prevent loss or damage of equipment. Customer‑oriented with ability to courteously and effectively work through difficult situations.
Position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
- Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e‑mail and software applications.
- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.
- Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
- Must be able to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.
- May work in warehouse or outside where it is drafty, noisy and dirty.
- May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
- May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.
- Will be required to handle dirty parts and lubricants.
- Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- May be required to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, to austere environments, under harsh living conditions.
