Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION: Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Art courses up to 10 hours per week; organize and teach all levels of art classes; use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning; teach day, evening, and/or weekend assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses; assess student learning outcomes each semester; participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired.

  • Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Art courses up to 10 hours per week
  • Organize and teach all levels of Art classes
  • Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning
  • Teach day, evening, and/or weekend assignments, including distance learning and accelerated courses
  • Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester
  • Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired

REQUIRED DUTIES: Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s in art history, history of art and architecture, or visual culture/visual studies
  • Or Bachelor’s in art history and Master’s in history
  • Or Master’s in art with a recorded emphasis or concentration in art history
  • Or equivalent qualifications as determined by the Yuba Community College District

Desired/

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching experience which would demonstrate the clear ability to teach Art History to community college students.

Physical Demands

Range/Step:
Class I - VII (Based on degree and teaching experience).

Salary Range

Part‑time positions below .60 FTE are not entitled to any District paid fringe benefits.

Pool Information

Part‑time instructor positions are filled as needed through ongoing recruitment. Applicants are contacted and hired year‑round based on college needs. The pool is open continuously and refreshed every two years.
Applicants in this pool will remain active for two years. After two years applicants will receive an email with information on how to remain in the pool.
