Adjunct Welding/Manufacturing Instructor for Lake County Campus

Location:

Lake County Campus - Clear Lake, CA

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead instructor for the Manufacturing curriculum, including maintenance of the machine shop laboratory and appropriate technology.
  • Order, maintain, and ensure the proper use of equipment in the manufacturing lab.
  • Organize and teach all levels of community college manufacturing courses, which currently include manual and CNC machining equipment, software, computers, and welding/fabrication.
  • Provide instruction and classroom management of certificate and degree level courses in manufacturing.
  • Identify and develop course curriculum, including project‑based learning and other methods of instruction to foster student success.
  • Organize and teach specialized courses in welding/manufacturing according to one’s background and expertise.
  • Facilitate student learning by working to develop every student’s abilities and by designing varied and motivating learning environments.
  • Prepare complete course syllabi and outlines, recruit students, and work with articulation agreements with local colleges and schools.
  • Create course schedules and class rotations.
  • Provide student advisement for program participants.
  • Maintain student records.
  • Maintain program equipment and ensure safe work environments.
  • Have an understanding of equipment and tooling required to instruct students to develop skills necessary to gain employment in manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain a relevant community college manufacturing curriculum, including appropriate transfer/articulation agreements with four‑year colleges and universities.
  • Work with staff in the welding, automotive, and other related departments, as well as other academic programs at the college.
  • Work with other non‑academic departments at Yuba College.
  • Establish and foster mutually beneficial relationships with business and industry.
  • Maintain an active advisory committee with local businesses to ensure an up‑to‑date curriculum and assist students with job placement upon graduation.
  • Facilitate student learning by using appropriate teaching methods.
  • Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses.
  • Participate in department, division, and college‑wide initiatives and committees.
  • Be committed to, and participate in, the share‑governance process.
  • Perform the tasks required in a manufacturing shop such as lifting, bending, standing, and other tasks associated with the position.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Required Qualifications
  • Any associates degree and six years of experience.
  • Any bachelor’s degree and two years of experience.
  • The equivalent experience demonstrating the same level of competence.
  • Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area.
