Part Time - EOPS/CARE Counselor
The Yuba Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part-time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position. Part-time instructor positions are filled as needed through ongoing recruitment. Applicants are contacted and hired year-round based on college needs. This pool is open continuously and refreshed every two years.
Applicants in this pool will remain active for two years. After two years applicants will receive an email with information on how to remain in the pool.
Important Instructions:

- FOREIGN TRANSCRIPTS:
Include a U.S. evaluation and translation. for a list of acceptable agencies providing foreign transcript services. - It is important to note that the District retains the right to extend time limits or initiate the recruitment/selection process anew at any stage.
- Education Code §87408.6 states that no person shall be initially employed by a community college district in an academic or classified position unless the person has submitted to an examination within the past sixty (60) days to determine that he/she/they is free of active tuberculosis.
- As a condition of employment, the position you are applying for will require that you provide fingerprints to the local police department. The fees charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI for the fingerprint report is the employee's responsibility.
- Fingerprint clearance must be received prior to the employee's first day on the job.

Job Description - BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction and supervision of the EOPS-CARE Director/Dean of Student Services, or designee, the EOPS-CARE Counselor provides academic, career, personal, and crisis counseling; assesses placement tests; develops educational plans; guides students through basic skills, general education, and transfer coursework; implements an academic progress report and follow-up process; facilitates support for the EOPS-CARE students and collaborates with the implementation of the Student Success and Support Program from a categorical program perspective;
and, works closely and collaboratively with the EOPS-CARE Supervisor and staff.
Essential Duties Summary - REQUIRED DUTIES:
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Required Qualifications
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EOPS Counselors are those persons designated by the community college to serve as academic counselors in the EOPS program and must possess:
- (A) EOPS Counselors are those persons designated by the community college to serve as certificated counselors in the EOPS program and must possess the Community College Counselor Credential or possess a master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, and
- (B) In addition, EOPS counselors hired after October 24, 1987, shall:
- Have completed a minimum of nine semester units of college course work predominantly relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social, or economic disadvantages or
- Have completed six semester units or the equivalent of a college-level counseling practicum or counseling field-work courses in a community college EOPS program, or in a program dealing predominantly with ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social, or economic disadvantages and
- Have two years of occupational experience in work relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social, or economic disadvantages.
