Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse ICU plans, coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the units standard of care. He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems;
is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. This position is represented by RCHEA.

- Demonstrates a professional, supportive attitude for the unit staff.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the critical skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care to the patients served in the Intensive Care setting.
- Monitors hemodynamic status of patients to correctly interpret findings.
- Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes; modifies the plan of care accordingly.
- Maintains competency requirements specific to the Intensive Care Unit.
- Performs head‑to‑toe assessment on all patients and reassessments per policy for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Participates in unit and integrated service projects to improve organizational performance.
- Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
- At least two years of documented ICU experience and/or completion of an approved ICU training course, which includes didactic and clinical experiences.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
- Current California Registered Nurse license.
- Basic computer skills.
- PALS and ACLS Certification within six months of hire.
- CCRN encouraged.
- BLS Certification following American Heart Association guidelines required (no other cards accepted).
- Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, work with arms above shoulder height, and work with arms at shoulder height.
- Can push patients in wheelchairs, gurneys, and beds; must be able to pull/lift 50 pounds from the floor.
