Role and Authority- LINE OF AUTHORITY: RN II, Emergency Department - Director of Emergency Department
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
At least one year Registered Nurse experience within the last 24 months and acute critical experience within the last 12 months or EMT and ED Tech with a minimum of 2 years experience & in good standing. - EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. - LICENSES OR
CERTIFICATIONS:
Current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of California. - LICENSES OR
CERTIFICATIONS:
Evidence of current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification. - LICENSES OR
CERTIFICATIONS:
MICN desired to be completed within one year of hire. - LICENSES OR
CERTIFICATIONS:
MICN, NRP, TNCC, and CEN encouraged and recommended. - QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic computer skills.

This job requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, reaching above shoulders, sitting, walking inclines and declines, standing, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive hand motions. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally pull, lift, transfer, or push a patient side to side, to a sitting position, to a standing position, or laterally. The employee must demonstrate a pull lift of 50 pounds from the floor. - POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO BLOOD & BODY FLUIDS:
Category 1 for potential exposure to bloodbody fluids. Protective measures should be used while engaged in Category 1 tasks with exposure potential.
- Age served:

Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care service for the age of patients/individuals served. - Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and critical skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care in Intensive Care. Able to interpret data about patient's status to identify age-specific needs and provide care.
- Handles emergency situations promptly, precisely, and professionally.
- Maintains accurate nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes.
- Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, licenses, certifications and education requirements as outlined by regulatory agencies.
- Maintains current knowledge of medications and correct administration based on patient's age and condition.
- Meets charge nurse expectations as assigned.
- Meets professional behavior expectations and guest services expectations.
- Monitors hemodynamic status of patients and correctly interprets results.
- Ensures nursing documentation reflects comprehensive understanding of the nursing process.
- Performs head-to-toe assessment on all patients with reassessments per policy.
- Prepares, administers, monitors, and discontinues IV fluids.
- Provides professional environment and appearance while on hospital grounds.
- Completes other duties and innovations as assigned.
