Job Summary- Exempt:
No - Provides professional nursing care to patients across the age spectrum within an assigned unit, supervising and coordinating care planning with other disciplines. This position is represented by RCHEA.

Education and Qualifications- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- One year of experience in a related field required for RN II-IV.
- All patient‑care personnel must be initially certified prior to patient care and recertified every two years in American Heart Association BLS.
- ACLS: all registered nurses in Nursing Supervision, Med/Surg, Emergency Department, Perioperative Services, and ICU must be initially certified within six months of employment and recertified every two years.
- PALS: all registered nurses in ER, Med/Surg, Perioperative Services, and ICU must be initially certified within six months of employment and recertified every two years.
- All BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certified personnel are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the crash cart.
- Has a current California RN license.
- Basic computer skills.
- Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.

- Employee must conform with all HIPAA and other confidentiality regulations as required by the job, department, or hospital.
- Equipment used: cell phone, computer, telephone/voicemail system, laser printer, photocopier, fax machine.
- Potential exposure to blood & body fluids:
Category 1, requiring protective measures. - Job requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, working with arms above shoulder height, standing, talking, hearing, and repetitive hand motions.
- Frequent patient transfer, including pulling, lifting or pushing a patient side to side, to a sitting or standing position, or laterally. Must demonstrate a pull lift of 50 pounds from the floor.
- Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- May occasionally be sitting and walking inclines and declines.
- Assess patient needs, problems and concerns; perform data collection systematically focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, including nutrition, pain, patient/family education, family involvement and patient advocacy.
- Assess patient, family and caregiver learning needs and readiness for learning.
- Evaluate effectiveness and outcomes of care given, and adjust plan of care process and provision as necessary with consultation as needed.
- Document accurately in electronic medical record system.
- Participate in nursing research activities as requested.
- Formulate goal‑directed plan of care prioritized based on patient diagnosis and anticipated outcomes.
- Individualize updates and document plan of care, including patient/family/designee (e.g., power of attorney) in the planning process.
- Educate patients, families and caregivers on plan of care.
- Implement care thoroughly, safely and continuously.
- Delegate appropriately and coordinate duties of health care team members.
- Assist with orientation and training of new and existing employees and students.
- Ensure compliance of team with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families and team while upholding a positive professional manner and service philosophy.
