Operating Room Staff Nurse

The O.R. Staff Nurse provides specialized nursing care to surgical patients across all age groups within the Operating Room. The role involves supervising care delivery, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring patient safety throughout perioperative procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Administer advanced nursing care tailored to perioperative patients, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques and safety protocols.
• Supervise and coordinate patient care planning with surgical teams and other healthcare disciplines.
• Maintain thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and progress in accordance with hospital policies.
• Ensure readiness of surgical equipment and supplies, including monitoring and managing epidural, PCA pumps, and other devices.
• Educate patients and families about perioperative procedures, postoperative care, and safety measures.
• Comply with hospital infection control policies and confidentiality regulations, including HIPAA standards.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current California RN license with at least two years of recent perioperative or surgical nursing experience.
• Maintain certification in BLS, ACLS within six months of employment, and recertify biennially.
• Possess additional certifications such as CNOR, PANAC, or AAOPU preferred.
• Demonstrate proficiency with operating room equipment, including monitors, glucometers, and infusion pumps.
• Exhibit strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
