Accounting Manager

Position Overview

A growing, high-revenue organization in the Tampa Bay area is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its corporate accounting team. This individual will report to the Director of Accounting and directly manage a team of four Accountants responsible for general ledger accounting.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who is already successfully managing an accounting team and has the technical accounting expertise to work through complex issues while supporting and developing their team.

The organization is growing and currently undergoing a multi-year finance system implementation, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and directly manage a team of four Accountants supporting general ledger accounting
• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities and key close processes
• Ensure accounting activities are completed accurately and in accordance with GAAP
• Review work completed by accounting team members and provide technical guidance
• Coach, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team
• Research and resolve complex accounting issues
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal efficiencies
• Partner with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams
• Support finance and accounting system initiatives
• Adapt to new technologies, systems, and processes as the organization continues to grow

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience within public accounting and/or a large corporate environment
• 2–3+ years of direct people-management experience
• Must currently be managing a team
• Strong technical accounting knowledge with an emphasis on GAAP
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience working within a large, complex, or high-revenue organization
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial close processes
• Tech-savvy and comfortable working across multiple financial systems and tools
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to balance team leadership responsibilities with hands-on accounting work

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA
• Public accounting experience supporting large or high-revenue clients
• Hands-on ERP or finance system implementation experience
• Experience participating in system design, testing, cutover, or post-go-live support
• Experience with in a multi-entity or high-growth organization
