QualificationsList on application experience that is relevant to this position and provide the required documentation listed in this vacancy. Instructional Assistant III supports students who are severe or emotionally disturbed. Candidates should have experience and training that provides them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform job duties. Experience working with students who have learning or communication handicaps, emotionally disturbed or autism classes, or who require a behaviorist intervention is highly desirable.
Coursework in child development is also highly desirable.
Possession of, or willingness to obtain, a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire (if required to operate school equipment).
Materials Required / EligibilityMust pre‑qualify by attaching one documentation [A, B, C, or D] from the following list:
- [A] Passing score from SJUSD’s Proficiency Exam (testing date must be April 2005 to current). No other districts’ proficiency exam accepted. To schedule a testing appointment, see “Pre‑Employment Test”.
- [B] Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
- [C] Official transcripts demonstrating completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units).
- [D] Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher).
*** If your degree/transcripts are from a foreign college or university, you must have coursework evaluated for its equivalency to a degree/transcripts received from an accredited U.S. college or university.
