About the Role

Harbor View Creative Learning Center is looking for a Teacher's Assistant to join our team! No experience is required, but you must be willing to take DCF 45 training hours in the first year of employment.

Pay starts between $16.00 - $18.00 based on education and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Help implement the lesson plan created by the lead teacher.
  • Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, etc.) to teach children.
  • Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem.
  • Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments.
  • Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers, colors, art, etc.).
  • Track children's progress and report to parents (Tadpoles App).
  • Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children's background.
  • Collaborate with other educators.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Experience working in a licensed childcare facility.
  • 45 DCF Training Hours (one year to complete all courses and exams).
  • CDA preferred.
  • Understanding of the principles of child development.
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms.
  • Excellent communication and instructional skills.
  • Ability to act as a mediator between children.
  • Cool-tempered, friendly, and reliable.
  • Certification in child CPR or willingness to obtain.
