Pre Primary: 3-6 Classroom Teacher
10-Month Full Time Position
Work Hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm
45 min Lunch Break & 15 min Break
Classroom:
- Teach class for Blossom’s 3-6 year old age group in a Montessori environment:
- Daily, keep the students “engaged” in learning.
- Rotate material on shelves monthly for Culture, Science & Practical Life.
- In-class art activity once a week.
- Use appropriate curriculum materials for students who are deaf, hard of hearing, hearing siblings, CODAS and hearing children that comply with a Montessori philosophy
- Have a detailed lesson plan for the week based on the school’s expectations of each student & classroom group lessons prior to 8:30am each Monday.
- Use Transition Book to transition each student as they arrive to school, throughout the day for all transitions and when they exit the building to go home. Book must be within reach at all times.
- Monitor each student fully until they leave with a parent or guardian, knowing where they are in the building at all times.
- Follow all Pinellas County Licensing Rules & Regulations to ensure the safety of all students.
- Monitor students with bathroom needs, assisting when necessary.
- Carefully monitor all students as they eat. Follow all Licensing/Health Department procedures.
- Keep a neat & tidy classroom environment, allowing the students to assist in cleaning.
- Keep children active and engaged when playing outside in the designated enclosed area.
- Post weekly on classroom Facebook page.
- Generate and implement a Blossom Growth and Development plan for each student in your classroom.
- Coordinate parent meetings twice a year to review and modify the plans.
- Make sure the Growth and Development Plans comply with the Montessori Scope and Sequence, and the Sunshine State Standards.
- Generate quarterly Progress Reports & Report Cards for each student in your classroom.
- Create a portfolio of each child’s selected work throughout the school year to show best work and improvements.
- Keep a good working relationship with student’s parents, including being flexible when they have a question and answering emails in a timely manner.
- After Care:
- Follow the daily schedule provided for After Care.
- Monitor outside play. Ensure students are following all rules and regulations for a safe outside environment.
- Monitor snack time with After Care students. Follow all Licensing/Health Department procedures. Carefully monitor all students as they eat. Help to clean up area.
- Have a daily craft selected and materials ready for craft time. Make sure there are enough materials for all students in attendance.
- Help keep Big Room neat & tidy; clean up all crafts or activities fully and put away all materials/games/toys/etc. that has been used.
- Monitor each student fully until they leave with a parent or guardian, knowing where they are in the building at all times.
- Use Transition Book to transition each student in After Care, all transitions throughout the afternoon and when they exit the building to go home. Book must be within reach at all times.
- Ensure that all students are out of the building before locking back doors and shutting down the school.
- Do a ‘walk-through’ every day to ensure all closing procedures have been done:
- cover both sandboxes
- locking PE closet
- locking back doors/gate
- shutting off all lights
- turning up all A/C units
- laminator is turned off & unplugged
- all students have been marked OUT of both the Attendance books & Transition books
- the front door code has been turned off
- General School:
- Assist with closing the school each day. Do a ‘walk-through’ every day to ensure all closing procedures have been done:

- locking back doors/gate

- Work Blossom’s After Care for 3-6 students.
- Assist with subbing in After Care when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
- Present a professional and positive attitude in working with students, parents and staff.

Position Requirements
College,
1+ Years
work experience Job Requirements:
- Preferred but not necessary - B.A. in Deaf Education or K-12 Education.
- Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) – no exceptions.
- Educational experience.
- Ability to manage effectively a group of children.
- Multi curriculum knowledge.
- Good command of written English.
- Computer/Technology Skills.
- Montessori knowledge or certification a plus.
- 40-Clock Hour Child Care Training (MODS) & Early Literacy 5 hour training a plus; or willing to begin training within thirty (30) days of hire.
- Complete annual in-service training requirements by assigned deadline.
