Description

The ESE/SPED Teacher role provides instruction and guidance to youth within the appropriate grade and/or academic level. The teacher assesses and teaches youth with special needs in accordance with recognized curriculum standards, and complies with instructional guidelines defined by the local School District and educational systems. The primary objective is to realize AMIkids’ mission to provide a safe and successful learning environment for youth, while encouraging social and emotional development through achievement of academic and personal goals.

  • Identify, prepare, and teach youth appropriately based on results from the Individual Education Plans (IEP), ensuring re‑assessments as needed.
  • Effectively implement AMIkids Way (Kids First, Safety, and Family) and key elements of Positive Youth Development (Relationships, Meaningful Participation, Community Involvement, and Challenged & Engaged Programming) and the AMIkids Personal Growth Model in all interactions with students.
  • Actively ensure all interactions reflect Kids First, Safety, Family, Relationships, Meaningful Participation, Challenge, and Engaged environment and Community Involvement.
  • Maintain an environment that provides a physically and emotionally safe space for youth and effective learning, growth, and progress toward individualized goals.
Minimum Education , Training and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, the academic discipline being delivered, or related field.
  • Current SPED/ESE Teaching Certification.
  • Teaching or coursework experience, or other similar activity in the area of primary instruction; experience working with high‑risk youth preferred.

Qualifications Education

Bachelor’s or better in Education or related field.
