Essential Job FunctionsAppointment to the rank of professor requires a record of distinguished scholarship and outstanding teaching ability, evidenced by recognized professional productivity in the field(s) of specialization.
Appointment to the rank of associate professor normally requires a record of substantial success in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Appointment to the rank of assistant professor requires completion of professional training, which in most disciplines will be a terminal degree (usually the earned doctorate), and the clear promise of a successful career in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
- Ability to effectively present information to students, public groups, or professional organizations in the English language.
- Ability to work with appropriate mathematical concepts specific to the particular discipline.
- Ability to apply concepts to practical situations.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.).
- Initial certification by the National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- State of Florida licensure required as of date of hire.
Doctoral Degree
Required Experience- Doctoral degree from an institution that is accredited by a USDE recognized regional accrediting body.
- Five (5) years of related clinical and/or teaching experience, as well as evidence of scholarship.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
- Terminal degree (Ph. D.M.D., or D.O., or other related terminal degree) in appropriate area of specialization.
- If the doctoral degree is clinical, may be required to complete a terminal degree, in appropriate area of specialization, within seven years of start date.
