Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:40 AM - 3:20 PM

Instructional Assistant III supports severe/emotionally disturbed students. Candidates may have any combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties. Requirements include:

• Experience working with students who have a Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs.
• Experience with students designated as emotionally disturbed (ED) or autism class or assigned to a Behaviorist.
• Experience working with groups of children; experience working with impaired children or adults highly desirable.
• Coursework in child development highly desirable.
• Willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any vehicle.

Must pre‑qualify by attaching one documentation [A, B, C, or D] from the following list:

• [A] Passing score from SJUSD's Proficiency Exam (testing date April 2005 to current). No other school districts proficiency exam accepted.
• [B] Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
• [C] Official transcripts demonstrating the completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units).
• [D] Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher).
