Behavior Specialist (Board Certified BCBA)

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt, 12-month

Position Overview

LiFT is seeking a collaborative, experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to serve as an internal Behavioral Specialist for our students, educators, families, and multidisciplinary team.

This position is designed to strengthen LiFT's ability to support neurodiverse learners through thoughtful behavioral consultation, collaboration, and evidence-based practice. Rather than functioning primarily as a traditional direct-service BCBA with an individual therapy caseload, the Behavior Specialist will work across the school environment to help teams better understand behavior, develop effective supports, and create conditions in which students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Behavioral

Consultation & Student Support
  • Observe students and classroom environments to identify behavioral patterns, environmental factors, and opportunities for proactive support.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop practical, individualized behavioral strategies that can be effectively implemented within the school environment.
  • Conductorcontributeto Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) andBehavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) when appropriatebaseduponstudentneed,theBCBA'sscopeofpractice,andLiFT'sestablishedprocesses.
  • Reviewbehavioraldataandstudentprogresstohelpteamsevaluatetheeffectivenessofinterventionsandmake appropriateadjustments.
  • Supporttheconsistentimplementationofbehavioralaccommodations,strategies,andstudentsupportplans. ParticipateinLSPandotherstudent-supportmeetingswhenbehavioralexpertisewouldbenefittheteam.
  • Assist administrators and student-support teams with proactive crisis-prevention and de-escalation planning for students with significant behavioral needs.
Behavioral Consultation,Staff Partnership&Professional Support
  • Partnerwithteacherstoidentifyandimplementevidence-basedstrategiesforsupportingbehaviorwithinthe classroom.
  • Model behavioral strategies and interventions in classroom settings when appropriate. Conduct classroom observations and provide practical, respectful, and actionable feedback.
  • Help educators understand the possible function and context of challenging behavior and identify proactive approaches to support student success.
  • Translateprinciplesof Applied Behavior Analysisintorealisticstrategiesthateducatorsandstaffcanconsistentlyuse  within the school environment.
  • Provideprofessionaldevelopmentandtrainingrelatedtobehavioralsupport,preventionstrategies,reinforcement,de-escalation, and other areas within the BCBA's expertise.
  • Build the behavioral capacity and confidence of LiFT team members while maintaining a collaborative approach to studentsupport.
  • Serve as LiFT's primary behavioral liaison with outside service providers serving LiFT students. CollaboratecloselywithABAprovidersworkingwithstudentsoncampustopromotecommunication,consistency, andalignmentbetweenschool-basedandoutsidebehavioralsupports.
  • Partner with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, mental health providers, educators, administrators, and other specialists to support a coordinated approach to student needs.
  • Workcollaborativelywithfamiliestohelpthemunderstandschool-basedbehavioral supportsand recommendations.
  • Communicatewithoutsideproviderswhenappropriatetobetterunderstandexistingrecommendationsandsupport continuity across environments.
  • Recognizewhenastudent'sneedsextendbeyondtheBCBA'sscopeofpracticeandcollaboratewithorrefertothe appropriate professional discipline.
School-Wide Behavioral Support
  • Contribute behavioral expertise to school-wide initiatives designed to strengthen student success, regulation, independence, and positive learning environments.
  • Promoteproactiveandpreventativeapproachestobehaviorsupportwhenever appropriate.
  • Help identify recurring behavioral trends or systemic needs and recommend strategies, resources, or professional development to address them.
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen consistent behavioral practices across programs while recognizing the individualized needs of LiFT students.
  • Maintain professionaldocumentationandadhereto applicableethical,confidentiality,and professional standards.

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing. Graduate-level education meeting the requirements for BCBA certification.
  • Experience supporting children and/or adolescents with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or other neurodevelopmentaldifferences.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and evidence-based behavioral assessment and intervention practices.
