Description
The Permit Liaison is responsible for supporting telecom construction projects by managing and coordinating the permitting process with municipalities, utility providers, and regulatory agencies. This role acts as a critical liaison between the customer and local authorities, ensuring clear communication, timely approvals, and rapid resolution of permitting challenges. The Permit Liaison helps safeguard project timelines by proactively addressing issues and maintaining full compliance with applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the primary liaison between customers, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and other governing entities throughout the permitting lifecycle.
- Assist in resolving permitting issues by collaborating directly with municipalities and other authorities to remove obstacles and prevent project delays.
- Prepare, submit, and track permit applications including right-of-way, traffic control, and utility permits.
- Maintain accurate records of permit requirements, approvals, fees, and timelines.
- Partner with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineering teams, and customers to gather required documentation and ensure alignment on project needs.
- Proactively communicate permit status updates, risks, and anticipated delays to both internal stakeholders and customers.
- Interpret municipal codes, zoning regulations, and construction requirements to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate inspections when required and support teams in addressing compliance-related matters.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with municipal contacts to help streamline approvals.
- Identify opportunities to improve permitting processes, increasing efficiency and reducing turnaround times.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. - 2+ years of experience in permitting, telecommunications, construction coordination, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of municipal processes and regulatory requirements preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project tracking or permitting software is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex approval processes.
- Telecom, utility construction, or infrastructure project experience.
- Familiarity with construction drawings, GIS systems, and traffic control plans.
- Established municipal relationships are a plus.
