Job Description Summary
The Test Systems Design Engineer – Avionics will play a key role in designing and developing automated test systems and test programs for verifying and testing electronic avionics assemblies. This includes developing test software for full automation, managing requirements, and integrating hardware and software into complete systems.

This is not a mechanical or aerospace engineering design role; it is focused on electronic hardware and software test systems for avionics products.

Grand Rapids, MI & Clearwater, FL
This is an onsite 5 days a week work arrangement based in Grand Rapids or Clearwater, FL. An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates.

- Design production test equipment for complex electronic aerospace products.
- Design and implement system‑level software solutions to achieve full test automation.
- Generate test software in National Instruments Test Stand, C/C++/C# in Microsoft Visual Studio, and C in Lab Windows CVI.
- Participate in design of test systems hardware.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, including hands‑on debug of test systems.
- Create test design documentation including test specifications, drawings, procedures, software, verification procedures and reports.
- Work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Product Engineering teams.
- Contribute to new product introduction, process improvement, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Manage own time and assigned resources to meet schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
- Participate in cross‑functional teams to address organizational initiatives and drive improvements.
- BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 0-3 years of experience in engineering dealing with electronics, preferably product/equipment design or test systems.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S : GE Aerospace will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- Knowledge and experience in software development using C, C++, C#.
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical design for electrical/electronic equipment.
- Familiarity with circuits troubleshooting and typical lab equipment.
- Onsite 5 days a week work schedule.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Proficiency in C/ C++/ C#, National Instruments Test Stand, Lab Windows/CVI.
- Ability to document, plan, and execute projects.
- Ability to manage own time to meet task schedule, cost and quality objectives.
- Good problem‑solving skills, including experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Proficiency using Git Hub for use in source control, issue tracking, code review, and project management.
- Fundamental understanding of electrical design for test equipment.
The base pay range for this position is $72,000.00 - $80,000.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 03/31/26.
