In this position, you won't just manage projects - you'll help shape them. From coordinating complex technical work to guiding projects from concept through completion, you'll serve as a trusted expert and strategic partner. You'll work closely with internal teams, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, meet high technical standards, and create lasting value.
This Project Coordinator - Technical (Project Coordinator) position is located at:14 South Fort Harrison Avenue, Clearwater, FL 33756
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m.
What Would You Do?
- Ensure projects progress on schedule and addresses issues promptly, tactfully and effectively.
- Initiates, plans, coordinates, and oversees project assignments requiring advanced technical expertise.
- Establish written specifications and sources for services, products, contractors for automated data processing, construction, information technology, operations, systems maintenance, and highly technical operations.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate highly technical specification requirements and advises management on the most efficient and effective means to achieve goals for projects and operations.
- Research and gathers required technical data to evaluate plans and activities.
- Manage technical assignments and projects including the planning and operations phases that may include phases in design, development, testing, implementation, and production.
- Oversee projects and troubleshoots technical problems interacting with other subject matter experts, officials, and managers, including monitoring acquisitions, performance, materials, and orders product testing, as needed.
- Ensure projects progress is scheduled and minimize any delays by taking action to avoid technical problems.
- Evaluate and inspect progress on assigned subject matter areas of responsibility and reports to management.
- Coordinate important utilities activities, water management operations, information technology systems, and other programs or operations that may involve major construction and support services acquisitions.
- Participate in activities required for systems, operations, and production testing to establish technical procedures.
- Serve as principal agency liaison for contractors, consultants, and key personnel on projects and processes.
- Analyze results, monitor progress, evaluate changes, and negotiate change management implementation.
- Enforce contractual obligations.
- Prepare and manage project budgets. Performs cost estimating.
- Coordinate with third party entities such as FDOT, Public Works and municipalities to ensure schedules and annual budgets are accurate and protect PCU interests.
- Utilities project management software and ensure accurate, up to date information.
- Examine and evaluate best practices of other departments, governments, agencies, or private sector organizations to acquire cutting edge technologies.
- Lead or participate as a technical expert on cross functional project teams.
- Manage assignments and reports to senior managers on progress on technical assignments, special projects, services, operations, and construction.
- Prepare annual budget and manage contracts.
- Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Experience: Technical and professional level Utilities Operations experience that includes one (1) year of lead worker or supervisory training. Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or equivalent certification.
Degree: Engineering, environmental science or subjects directly related.
- 8+ years' experience as described above.
- Associate's degree and 6+ years' experience as described above.
- Bachelor's degree and 4+ years' experience as described above.
- Master's degree and 2+ years' experience as described above.
- Doctoral degree and some experience as described above.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
- Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
- Project Management Professional (PMP).
